A year ago the prototype of the IceGiant ProSiphon impressed us with it's cooling performance, but does the much smaller retail unit keep up?

I have it just received now ICE GIANT
so there's no point getting it for low to mid chips and if you're running a high I should just get a water cooling system? deciding between a d15 or ice giant
Now I just need DIY Perks to put one of these onto a 3090, see how well it goes, then have Optimum Tech put one on both GPU and CPU in an Mini ITX case
I remember when you shown to us their prototype.
hey everyone!!! i wanna order arctic 360 but i cant really find any pc case that can top mmount it... has anyone mounted on top? in what case? thanks a loT
Cool, I was going to ask that you do a review of the release version of this. However, we still need to see comparative benchmarking on high-end AM4; you've covered Threadripper, which most people will not have, and high-end Intel desktop CPUs, which are losing market share to to 3950X, 3900X, etc. Those seem like the sweet spot for this: gamers will overclock them, and they're common, and they don't have a central hot spot like Intel chips, and not all of us want water in our systems (or, as in my instance, have cases not suited for AIOs due to the mounting positions available and their vertical relation to the CPU, but large enough for an Ice Giant).
Prosiphon + Ryzen 7 2700x = Good Idea?
Bruh Linus’ beard is awesome
So how does it perform at stock clock speeds???
Where can this be bought in the uk ???
I pre ordered mine 9+ months ago I just barley got it today and it is massive
Can we get some indication of Case Compatibility with the Prosiphon Elite?
Check our there website then compare it to your case clearance. Off the top of my head I think it's 48mm for ram, 164mm for length "measured from mobo to it's tip" and 251mm wide. Basically about as long as a 2 slot 2080ti. My gigabyte specifically almost comes flush with it on the right side.
Mini itx build with the thermosiphon!!!
How about using Noctua NF-A12 fans with this? Any improvements? How does the noise levels compare?
@Trucker Jack yeah thanks! I am curious mostly because I am quite the opposite and pc being quiet is very important to me
@mehutolkki3232 I'll try that and let you know. For now temps are amazing and I never really considered lowering the fan curves as noise has never been an issue for me. I am aware that running full tilt doesn't always help. So I'll give it a go.
@Trucker Jack how about if you run them at 1000-1500rpm with your current setup? How much does it affect the temps?
@mehutolkki3232 I just set them to performance and let them do their business. I did take the stock fans and place two under my gpu. I run those maxed out at 2500rpm.
@Trucker Jack what rpm are you maxing them on? The color is fine with me, I "wear" noctua fans with pride even if the color doesn't suit most of the people. To me its kind of a symbol of showing quality. Like some sports car that is known to be a legend but doesn't look that great or something. Hard to explain. Besides unless you plan on using a windowed sidepanel you don't see them anyway.
8:55 The fans of the cooler are rebranded Arctic P12 or P14. Awesome fans for around 7€ per piece. Optimum tech made a review of them here: roones.info/news/tamW1YuEqrKIyno/video
The nervous zebra inevitably close because bear timely whisper near a parsimonious needle. adaptable, earsplitting plate
I hope they make a nickel plated copper version. That with liquid metal would be the best
I think you mentioned in the last video that they were making a passive version for less extreme chips. Is that still happening?
I got mine weeks ago and the results are simply amazing. I have a TR 1950x overlocked to 4.0hz and I idle at 12-15c and under heavy load it doesn't go above 28c. Nothing I have had outside of water cooling has come close to the temps this thing can do. I love it.
Which case did you use? Or Recommend?
Fits fine in my lian li lancool mesh. It blocks out pretty ram colors and renders the rear exhaust almost useless.. but everything fits perfectly fine.
Might I ask how a $170 ProSiphon Elite is half the price of a $135 Liquid Freezer II 360 🤦♂️
@Linus Tech Tips omg mount it on a GPU XD..... no seriously mount the ice giant on a gpu.
Unavailable in Canada !
Got the Icegiant Elite off Ebay for about $20 more than MSRP for my 3970x build because i was impatient and didn't want to wait weeks/months getting it. :) (Also got the NH-U14S TR4 Just in case) Was originally going to do an AIO water cooler for the CPU, but had to scrap that idea when i got a deal on a Hybrid AIO RTX since my case can only fit one 360 Radiator and the GPU won out.
Just got mine in the mail!
I should have my system done by the end of the year I'm using regular stuff you can buy I'm going to have a dishwasher pump and a copper radiator out the top and air intakes will be HEPA filtered for added quietness and unrestricted water flow that's why you're blowing so many water pumps restricting the water flow so much heat rises out the top anyway so I should be getting good numbers when I'm done with my system that I invented back in 1990 you guys are moving way too much air and restricting your water flow way too much
I'm noticing the height clearance between the noctuas and see that the Ice Giants are a couple of cms shorter. question is, how small of a case can this fit in and how tight would it be inside an itx motherboard?
That was the worst segue I've ever heard and I need 300 more just like it
9:10 Wow Nice.
Next Video: Watercooling Water
I bought one of these and will put it on my 5950x, I am currently running a Noctua nh-d 15 and I am really interested to see how these two compare
Interesting, I should get this for the R5 3600.
Curious how this does vs custom liquid cooling on 5900X/5950X
so this kind of validates people who use AIO huh. instead of the giant noctual beasts that are sometimes better than AIO coolers.
Just got mine yesterday, so excited to install it in my build!
Hi, When did you order it? I want to give it a shot but don't want to wait months for it to come in.
2:19 Heat And Mass Transfer by Cengel. 😂😂😂 I was surprised that Linus was teaching Mechanical Engineering 😆😆
Why have no reviewers tested this with the 5000 series? Lot of people want to know if this still works well with the lower thermal load.
Pretty sure this is mostly designed with the Gen 3 Threadrippers in mind atm, and a few of the Intel CPU's. Have heard they'll be doing more CPU options for it later on supposedly.
tl;dw The Icegiant is THE cooler to get for overclocked Threadripper and nothing else. Making it a very niche product, not going to make a big splash as a bestseller.
If my pc will be at high load for a long period of time, like 8 hours rendering, It would be better air cooling or water cooling?
Really starting to see how the beard makes him not look like some kid
I'd really like to see LTT do a test where they duct the air to & from the cpu (or gpu) cooler directly to outside the case, instead of relying on the air eventually finding its way in & out of the case.
please test this with the 5800x.
"Water-cooling is expensive!" Me: Laughs in Masterliquid
Is it true that Linus isnt actually gay?
I got one I'm not going to use (only have a Ryzen 5 3600). $340 if anyone is interested or you can wait 6-8 weeks ;)
best segue ever
Linus often says air coolers are better than those AIO water coolers, but the thing is that if you go with an AIO water cooler you don't have to worry so much about whether it blocks your RAM, video card, etc... which seems like a real problem for some of these bulky air coolers.
is amd ryzen 5 5600x compatible?
250A??? W maybe, but amps? I dont think thats right?
FYI near the end, Noctua D15 black that he's holding is the same exact price.
A bad case of Segway-itis. Yes, we know... :D
Any idea whether this would be legit viable on an AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 3.5 GHz 16-Core Processor? It's around 100 watts, and AMD suggests liquid cooling. I've seen a few people on amazon saying they're going this route, but it's not a threadripper, so I can't tell if I'm overpaying for something I don't fully need with this.
@Randal Lombardo You should just need to enable PBO and maybe some sight voltage adjustments plus memory (unless you have a reason for an all core OC). There's also the Curve Optimizer that is in beta which can tweak performance. This should work well for any Ryzen because of their chiplet design in general.
@Rahq Vuth Everything else for my build but the graphics card arrived, so I picked up a $70 liquid cooler as an interim device. I spoke to Ice Giant on twitter and they replied very quickly, said it would pair excellently with the 3950, especially if I overclock. So I guess I'm gonna learn how to overclock, assuming the thermosiphon ever makes it through Shipageddon.
I pre-ordered one for the same reason. I just didn't expect it to come in after Ryzen 5000. I'm kinda waiting to see if they become more available before I install it or just go ahead.
I like how they tried to rebrand the Arctic PWM Fans
i'm going to be really upset if this won't clear my memory
In conclusion, 99.9% of people can buy a bang for the buck air cooling and be completely fine.
Can you use it on a regular CPU in a passive mode?
I'm sure you can, but you'll want decent case airflow from bottom to top.
0:45 Dear caption writer, thank you for the captions! But...and don't take this the wrong way, as I swear I'm only trying to help...It's spelled "segue", not "Segway" (like the company) lol
What case is this? Sexy as hell
I watched the initial reviews and was amazed by its performance. I pre-ordered one and it is now at the Canadian customs, awaiting to be released to be delivered. I can't wait to install it on my Ryzen 9 5950X which I ordered but is currently out of stock in backorder. According to the store, I should receive it early January.
@GodOfCows no problemo!
@Rahq Vuth If you do put it on, mind telling me what your temps are? I got a 3950 since I couldn't get ahold of the new 5000 series.
Mine came in yesterday. I'm just debating on throwing on my 3950x or waiting for the 5950x and moving the 3k to my server.
I'm in the same boat, except mines in a port on the west coast.
i need a test, that segway gave me covid
So to summorise: Ice giant Elite is almost the same as much more expensive custom water coolling. Ice giant Elite is also worse than Nh.d15 air cooler in normal consumer CPU's. So we can say that for normal consumer CPU's Nh-d15 AIR cooler is BETTER that custom water cooling. And it is much cheaper.
Should work similarly on any Ryzen CPU because of its chiplet design. On Intel, I would not recommended unless it's a HEDT or server part.
I watch this video and think water cooling is more expensive but I also think it is best option over this thermal siphon.
10:25 i7 1085k?
A cool video would be a cool off. Two teams both competing to see who can cool off a gpu and cpu. Catch no pc case fans or rads.
sagwayitis magee
Ice Giant is a small Texas based company and they are a amazing company, highly recommend them!
Just noticed... Why the heck are you using letterboxed videos on ROones? Stop being weird, go 16:9.
Finally someone made a new video about this cooler!
Great video, but you should've compared it to the NH-D15. That seems like a more comparable size.
anyone know the case he's using in this?
What's threadripper?
Linus can I have a tech tip?
its good because it uses four arctic P12 fans
I actually feel bad for those poor vrms XD
Arctic is love
I would love to see RGB on that thing
Lmfao at “in this case”. I did not expect that
I just ordered one of these coolers for my 3970X. The Gigabyte Aorus 280 AOI cooler I've been using is terrible for this CPU, despite being on AMD's list of approved coolers. It looks cool, but idle temps are atrocious at 55-60C and it's always running the fans at high RPM, so I'm hoping the ProSiphon is much quieter than the AOI (hopefully these new fans help) and it seems like it should result in a MUCH cooler CPU.
Or use noctua for both 🤯
What if u slap on Noctua fans to the Ice Gaint? and use the fans that came with it for case exhaust?
Would this help cool a new gpu vr review?
This thing looks like it'll damage the motherboard from the sheer weight of it. I am interested, though.
So which is best for 5950X, this or D15?
For Ryzen this should be a little better. On Intel I'd go with the D15.
its fucking giant.... Yikes.
Oooh dear, Linus tried so hard on that segway. I almost feel bad for the guy.
I like the look of those huge air coolers. They just look good to me.
Linus is it possible to connect a webcan in pcie slot and rampup the quality to maximum like mobile devices
Any way you can test that IceGiant on a Ryzen 5000 series processor? Would like to see how it performs compared to other air coolers, or even some other AIOs.
Did he just say 10875K?
I dont know why i keep watching your videos. Still it is really entertaining to watch u guys presenting what still i dont have.
I wonder the performance of the Ice Giant with Noctua Fans.
Looks like they just taped their logo on Arctic P12:s :D Noctuas fancy expensive fans will cost you extra 120€ and maybe youll see 1-3C difference because those spin a bit faster.
What case is that?
2:21 as a reviewer you should never have a TLDR (To long didn't read) because your supposed to read everything including the boring stuff and do the research to provide a indepth review.
i have 1950x under custom cooling max temp 74°C 4100mhz
Bro please help me finding a budget router. My dad gave me $40 budget for a router. We have a 30mbps wifi speed. I live in the Philippines. I just want to play fortnite on low ping. my ping on fortnite right now is 125 ping. i just want to lower at least to 60 ping. Please help me plsssssssssssssssssss. notice me please
Can anyone with expertise in gaming pcs give me some advice please? I want to build a pc for 1440p gaming, my budget is £1200, but I keep reading so many different things, for e.g. how it’s not the memory of the Graphics that matters etc etc so I’m in and out of wanting to buy the 3080, I just want a pc that will play games at 1440p with NO issues, not loud and for the future. Any build advice is appreciated.
Best video for while. Thank you so much to point me out for best thredriper cooler. Order has been made.
What's the best motherboard for this CPU?
Day 151 of asking for a PC thanks 👍😁
Linus' speech loses frames every time he says temperature.
wouldnt recommend it becouse tink about future use who csn say our gravity stays same? Maybe it wont work when a grvaity shift occurs
Hey linus when are you going to upgrade your editors pc
